Shouldn't that be a good thing? Useful to make a meal out of.
There really aren't any negative definitions of the noun meal. Closest is "a product resembling seed meal especially in particle size or texture." But when it turns into an adjective as mealy, that's not good. We make that "not good" face.
I know Whole Foods sausages are slightly better, and I keep buying them, but they are always mealy. Even the pork ones. So I think i'm done.
