9. SCREENWRITERS QUIZ #9 –THOSE WHO ADAPTED THEIR SCREENPLAYS FROM OTHER PLAYWRIGHTS
SET-UP:
Alphabetically and numerically listed below in BLACK are career Oscar-nominated SCREENWRITERS (S).
Also, alphabetically and numerically listed below in RED are ORIGINAL PLAYWRIGHTS (OTHER THAN THE SCREENWRITER) (P).
Finally alphabetically and numerically listed below in BLUE are career Oscar-nominated DIRECTORS (D).
--- SCREENWRITERS names are listed first. (Last name will be OK)
--- ORIGINAL PLAYWRIGHTS names are listed second. (Las name will be OK)
--- DIRECTORS names are listed third. (Last name will be OK)
One SCREENWRITER and one ORIGINAL PLAYWRIGHT can be linked with a DIRECTOR in a unique way.
Each combo of SCREENWRITER and ORIGINAL PLAYWRIGHT was used in the making of a THEATRICAL FILM (no TV-Movies allowed in here) which was finished by an career Oscar nominated DIRECTOR.
SOME MAY BE ON MORE THAN ONE OF THE LISTS—THAT IS INTENTIONAL SINCE THEY MAY HAVE SERVED IN BOTH ROLES.
NO SCREENWRITER USED IN THE LAST QUIZ (QUIZ #8) IS REPEATED HERE.
CHALLENGE:
FIRST, choose a SCREENWRITER from the list SCREENWRITERS (NUMBERED S1-S27) below.
SECOND, choose a ORIGINAL PLAYWRIGHT (P1-P27) to match the SCREENWRITER, whose play was adapted by the sreenwriter.
THIRD, link the first two with the DIRECTOR (NUMBERD D1-D27) who brought them together in a film.
FOUTH, give the TITLE of the film. (The name of the film may be different than the name of their original play, but what we want, here, is the name of the FILM.)
After matching the SCREENWRITER / ORIGINAL PLAYWRIGHT / DIRECTOR / FILM TITLE, the board will be updated in GREEN--- PERIODICALLY
EXAMPLE of the completed solution is shown below:
S38. ALBERT MANNHEIME / P34. GARSON KNIN / D32. GEORGE CUKOR -----BORN YESTERDAY / KIJII
The final four items will be listed alphabetically by the screenwriter’s last name.
As the updating is done—PERIODICALLY--- three elements of the Solution Triad will be removed from the original lists and the solution will be shown in green with the solver’s name.
THIS IS NOT A GARTH GAME AND WILL NOT BE SCORED AS ONE. IT IS ONLY A ”FUN” GROUP ACTIVITY to pass time during the virus quarantine.... but mathgarth gave me permission to use elements of his GARTH GAME format.
But, Similar to a GARTH GAME, I will only accept sets matching MY sets even though yours may be as correct as mine.
