Saw him on stage with Brian Dennehy in a Eugene O'Neill play in New Haven, Ct.
also appeared with Brian in F/X
and was in court against Harrison Ford in PRESUMED INNOCENT.

I've seen pictures from that particular play posted on google. He was friends with Brian Dennehy whose in both 'F/X' (1986) and 'Presumed Innocent' (1990).
They also made 'Perfect Witness' (1989) for television together around this time. Grifasi went on to work with Dennehy on 'Jack Reed : A Search For Justice' (1994) and 'Undue Influence' (1996); Dennehy co-wrote and directed that particular 'Jack Reed' entry.

Joe Grifasi and Meryl Streep have made 4 films together - 'The Deer Hunter' (1978), 'Still Of The Night' (1982), 'Ironweed' (1987) and 'Dark Matter' (2007).

In the 1970s, they appeared together in a Yale Drama School production of William Shakespeare's 'A Midsummer Night's Dream', a young stage performer sharing her dream with a grizzled senior. I think they first worked together on screen in Peter Levin's 'Secret Service' (1977), commissioned as part of the 'Great Performances' series.
