Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) Rotten Tomatoes: 94% (8.9 average rating) Metacritic: 81
IMDb v2.0 average: 10.0 (2 votes - updated 29 April 2017)
I wasn't born early enough to watch the original trilogy when it came out in theater's, but this is still definitely my favorite Star Wars movie. Just like the original 'Star Wars', this is one of those very rare timeless movies. Empire builds and expands on the original. So a 10/10 for me. What's your opinion?

2nd fav SW film... its lulls keep me from truly loving it. Really? I love its "quieter" moments. They all feel important and actually sort of intimate, from Luke's real struggles to the Han/Leia stuff. Now, Jedi -- there's a childhood favorite of mine that's just brutal to sit through as I've aged. Depending on my mood I've no bloody use for anything but the first and last half hours of the movie, although I will say that I think the end of Jedi is better than anything in any of the other movies except a few bits of III. In particular, the dog fighting (space combat) sequences surpass anything I've seen in the six Lucas/original movies or the Disney knock-offs.

Those are great scenes, for sure -- the gang back together off on another adventure, and then father and son talking like men for the first time in three movies. It's just everything else that drags for me, honestly. The Ewok shit, etc. I basically watch it up until Yoda dies and then skip to the "It's a trap!" scene.

8/10. I might add I saw it on my birthday in May 1980 and what an experience! To go in not knowing much about it. Thinking Yoda would be some big dude with a beard sitting on a throne in the swamp. Thinking Darth Vader was an alien... The cliffhanger ending.
That was some film experience.
