Back to the OP topic, this woman was way out of line.
First, she breaks the social expected behavior by not doing what everyone else is expected to do in that area.
Second, when called on her breaking the socially expected behavior, she makes excuses for why she is allowed to break the socially expected.
Third, she gets told that if she is going to do whatever the fuck she wants, than she can't be mad at him for doing whatever the fuck he wants. He didn't want her keeping her dog unleashed. She didn't want him offering treats to her dog. He didn't offer tbe treats first, and there is no reason to believe he would have broken the socially expected norm had she not refused to comply with a different simple socially expected norm.
Fourth, she was NOT afraid of him. With one hand holding the dog by the collar, and another hand holding her cell phone and the leash, she walked up close to the man demanding he not record her. You don't approach someone you are afraid of with your hands full.
Fifth, you don't stand in front of someone you are afraid of and call the police! If you feel comfortable enough to stand 10 feet from someone and make a phone call, you are not afraid of that person.
Sixth, instead of strangling the dog to make an unnecessary call to the police, she could have just put the leash on. Dog would be safer, she would be more able to defend herself... it just doesn't make sense to strangle a dog instead of putting the leash on.
Seventh, before she called the police on this dangerous and threatening man, she choose to threaten him with the fact that she was going to call them, and she told him exactly what she would say. She then called and said exactly what she threatened she would say.
Eighth, she turned up the hysteria to make the police believe there was an actual threat in the park from an African- American male. It's pretty lucky no one got accosted by police looking for a suspect. She should be punished for the false report, and for fleeing the scene before cops got there.
I'm glad she got fired/suspended and had the dog taken away. People who think the rules don't apply to them because of reasons will hopefully think twice about it.

So kind of like 2 wrongs make a right.
I've never excused this woman's behavior - it's was abhorrent - however believe Mr. Cooper acted like a Drama Queen and he could have easily went on his merry little way watching birds after she ignored his request to leash the dog after lecturing her about what she was doing was wrong.
To me baiting her dog was completely out of line - I myself have felt very uncomfortable while being filmed as well - complete and total invasion of one's personal space IMO.

She was caught on camera being racist. It was on her time, but she's been identified and for many people, she has now become a face of the company. Maybe the punishment doesn't fit the crime, but you can understand why her employer would take drastic steps to save face. The larger the company, the greater the effect something like this has on their image because of their presence in the public consciousness. To be cynical about it, it's not as if corporate cares if this woman is a racist. They care that she got caught on camera acting like one. Ironically, she would've been better off acting like a typical asshole and just telling the guy to fuck off. Instead she dug her own grave playing the race card when she knew she was being recorded.
Honest question here - I haven't seen the video. What was the extent of her racism? Was it only that she specified that the guy was African-American in the 911 call, or was there more to it? Without wishing to defend her actions, once she decided to call 911 was it not perfectly normal for her to include a basic description of the person who (in her mind) was harassing her?
She implied that he'd be in danger because he's black. Before she made the call, she told him (something along the lines of) that she was going to call the police and tell them an African American male is threatening her.

See, I never understood not wanting to be filmed. Put a camera in my bathroom for all I care. It's a very nice penis. Kinda criminal how few actually get to see it.

You think if he'd been white she would've said to him I'm going to call the police and tell them a Caucasian man is bothering me? Or that when she actually called she would've actually said it was a Caucasian man? (since she used the more 'polite' African American rather than 'black' then you'd expect her to say Caucasian rather than white) If he'd been white she would've just said a guy is bothering me. No race descriptor would've been used. The operator would then ask for descriptors such as race, height, clothing, etc.

I don't think she liked being preached to about leashing her dog.
I don't think she liked Mr. Cooper baiting her animal with food either.
I don't think she liked being filmed either - that's when she flipped.
Mr. Cooper being black was just added icing on the cake for her.

I'm sorry you've run this non-sports topic 8 pages just so you can get posters to blame the victim or get other posters to agree that someone shouldn't stand up for what's right in public because the victim did something inappropriate all the while ignoring that the perp escalated the situation far beyond their initial interaction. I'm sure you're just sitting their bored at home or work being 'entertained' by the 'theater' of this thread. See ya.

It might shock you to know just how often you are being filmed. Sometimes I catch myself thinking out loud - OK - I'll say it - talking to myself at a red light in my car - I typically play it off like I'm singing a song when the car next to me at a redlight is looking at me like I'm nuts - but I've become more conscientious of the cameras on top of the red lights around here.
We have them all over the place around here for people who blow through red lights.
Also security cams in stores, restaurants, bars, etc

I get that. And if you wanna become a cam girl that's totally cool. But somebody recording you without your permission is annoying. She's still a piece of shit though. But, why? Why is it annoying. It's no more or less annoying than a billion other things people do everyday. 2 situations for me.
1 referenced earlier in this thread.
1 - I got in a confrontation with a person who was unhappy I was speeding (I shouldn't have been speeding) and proceeded to take his cell phone out and record me and my license plate # - felt it was completely out of line.
2 - The boxing gym I go to takes videos of members and places it on their Facebook page. I was filmed once and politely asked them to delete it. Didn't want my ex to know I was back in the area - it was just an invasion of privacy IMO - if you're going to film somebody and place them on Facebook - IMO you should ask them first if they're comfortable with that.
Now I get a business that may turn around and state - well you're in our business quarters and we can place whatever we like on our social media page - if that was the response I ended up getting - I would have cancelled my membership immediately. They granted my request and stated they understood.

It's totally understandable if you don't care for your privacy, but you also have to understand that other people do. But again, she's still a piece of shit.

However, if someone is committing a crime, or breaking a socially accepted norm, I fully understand why *they* wouldn't want to be filmed doing so. But if you're out in public, you're probably already being videotaped. But oh no, that person with the goofy hat is pointing their phone at me!!!
