And also, images people post. Because personally I find it annoying, but that's just me. So therefore if we had an option of turning them off, then for me it would be blank, and I wouldn't have to look at it. Unless I actually want to.
Because instead of putting a video up, it is better to just reference it by typing it. In my opinion. So I say(well I am just suggesting) just at least give people here that option. If that is a good idea, that is with the people in charge of this sort of thing.

Also an option to turn off all 'gifs' in case someone uses a gif in their avatar and I don't like it.

Some of these Animated Gifs/Gif Videos avatars that are being used are incredibly huge and take forever to download. It wouldn't be too bad if just one person used it... but when 10 posters, on a single page are using them, and let's say, they are small ones at 2 MBs in size, each... that's 20 MBs of data per page that has to load, JUST FOR AVATARS... Give me a fucking break... I don't have all day to download that crap, when I just want to read their comments.

Because instead of putting a video up, it is better to just reference it by typing it. Personally, I don't care if YouTube videos are embedded into people's posts or not... With the way things are set up now, we just get a "quickload picture" of the video, and then you have to put your mouse over it, before more of it is loaded... And I think, you have to click on play, to get the whole video to load. (I may be wrong about that part.) But what I HATE is when someone posts a video, without typing any text to indicate what the video is all about... Not every "quickload picture" indicates what the video that has been posted is all about...I won't click on videos or links, unless I know what I am clicking on! I'm not going to spend a bunch of time to download some unknown video, to find out I wasted much of my time on a bunch of BS! And so, to me, just posting a video, is NOT a discussion. It's just pure laziness, and inconsiderate of other posters!

You can turn avatars off in your settings. As for videos, the best I could do was disable them in quotes. If you want to disable all of them, you'll need to use third-party software.

My experience has been that most people post videos in the music threads. I think that is just fine. You can play the song that people refer to. It saves the steps of searching for the song. Links are the best thing about the net. I suppose one must always be careful. I have occasionally found new music this way.

I couldn't help noticing the reply, "I think you should turn off GIFs because I don't like them." That phrase is heavily implied in most of the other suggestions about turn-offs. I think the Classic Film Board would dry up and blow away without images and clips. I have found all of these suggestions to be personal preferences not held by a lot of people. Please, Mr. or Ms. Admin: Be very careful and deliberate before taking any actions on the minority opinions. EDIT: I got to thinking that some might be offended with having their opinion minimized or being told to shut up. I didn't mean that. The offense intended was simply that I posted an image and a GIF for all the people who don't want them.

I think one you tube video per post is enough and at least they are disabled in quotes. I still think it is a cool feature that they show directly and not just a link. People posting way too many images in one post can really slow the page loading down too. Which is why bartlesby implemented a code that prevents embedded videos from loading until the thumbnail is clicked.
