Marvel wants to do a "woke" cinematic universe going forward. Catering to the minority of feminists, LGBTQ, and politically correct crowd.
DC was going to try this after the failure of Justice League with Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn as well as spin offs of the Birds of Prey and Batgirl etc.. however, after Barely Quinn flopped and they saw what was happening on the CW with Batwoman and Supergirl...
They flipped quick. Now we have Zack Snyder's 'Justice League' which is a man's CBM. Then they got Henry Cavill back as Superman. They realized the "Joker" (2019) film was the most successful film they ever made (money, and awards) ... So they have done a 180 during this COVID-19 outbreak, took a breath and restructured their plans. Also, the word is Snyder will get to make his Justice League II and III if this is successful on HBOmax.

If they do more stuff like Joker...or rather, simply more experimental and/or adult superhero stuff...I’m sure they could. They don’t necessarily need to follow the Avengers model set forth in the MCU where each story leads into the next. They just need to make interesting movies that they commit to out of the gate.

The problem is, the Snyder Cut is just going to be a polished turd and could be used to harm the anti woketard movement.

Particularly now that Affleck is gone as Batman and Ezra Miller's future as Flash is now up in the air.

And how would the success of Snyder Cut on HBO Max would allow HIS version of Justice League sequels to happen on big screen (if that's what he implied)? Wouldn't that confuse the audience who didn't get to see Snyder Cut?

Dude, WW 1984 was made before DC decided to course correct away from the Woke culture. They can't just cancel it.

I'm still confused on how shitty mental health care became a right wing issue. Between that and the theme of economic inequity, Joker is probably the most left wing movie DC has made. And Aquaman made about $75 million more, and that was a save-the-fish pollution movie starring a Pacific Islander. Wonder Woman was the most successful movie before that.
But it's all coming crashing down because of one movie, Birds of Prey. Which didn't fail from shitty marketing or being an R rated niche property, no, but because it starred ladies. Never mind that the last traditional straight white guy superhero movie they did, Shazam!, didn't do a whole lot better.
That's all putting aside the fact that between Black Panther and Captain Marvel, MCU's wokeness ain't making them too broke. Or there being zero evidence that DC is actually "course correcting" to be their anti-woke rival. Because they're releasing the Snyder Cut and he's an objectvist in real life? I'm pretty sure half the stuff they cut from his version is Cyborg scenes.

Thing is, the opposite of Marvel's approach is a form of "Political Correctness" as well... Right-wing/M.R.A./"Anti-Woke" Political Correctness.
If a filmmaker violates the tenets of "Anti-Woke" PC, its adherents scream like scalded nellies.
So easily triggered...

The film kinda defends gun rights, too. Oh, and Brie Larson is PC Principal in human form.

I don't think a mentally ill person getting ahold of a gun and immediately bringing it to a children's party and shooting a half dozen people with it is very supportive of gun rights. And the Trump thing sounds like bullshit. In this article he says he's so bummed about his presidency it's the reason he got out of comedy: lrmonline.com/news/joker-director-todd-phillips-decision-to-get-out-of-comedy-had-everything-to-do-with-donald-trump/

JOKER is a 7/10 movie.
Then again, so is CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER.

I'm just pointing out that the soĂ called "woke" films and TV shows aren't doing well. Marvel is headed that direction, DC is headed another. Smart move on DCs part

Harvey Weinstein hates Trump, so it’s evil vs evil.

They both do "woke," the difference is Warner Bros doesn't have the same central committee approach that Disney has. The Joker is "woke" with a capital W. There's very little traditional comic book adventure in such things.
Instead of the executives telling the directors and writers what to do in every scene, WB just hires people they consider on the same page and lets them do what they want (within the boundaries).
Anti-Woke would be remaking Doc Savage 1975 without the comedy but hiring a Ron Ely lookalike instead of the Rock.
You still have the SJW stuff in the DC universe--the Nolan films had lots of it (i.e. Bruce Wayne needed constant guidance counseling from his butler--Adam West's Batman did not).
