Saw this was talked about on Around the Horn. This list is basically so you don't include The Beatles as far as I'm concerned.
I saw some interesting suggestions from the people on the show. Example being Nirvana (did they last long enough) or Bruce Springsteen (does he qualify as a band?)
Who are some USA based bands that could be listed as best ever?
Sorry everybody, Nickelback is Canadian.

I think Springsteen would qualify, though he’s not my personal choice. I’ll go with the Allman Brothers and the Doors as the two best American bands.

I know Fleetwood mac was formed in England in the mid to late 1960s., but i am pretty sure it has been based in the US since the mid 1970s and its not a pure American band its a British-American band.
So i will say Fleetwood mac unless it has to be an band that originated in the US and must have only have American band members than i will say Creedence Clearwater Revival
