But I stopped liking her when she started to self destruct in Angel just so that Angel had a reason to "save" her. It was all just too cliche.

I loved that she was basically a corrupted version of Buffy - what Buffy could have ended up as without her friends helping her to keep on the straight and narrow.
Exactly. That's what Faith brought to the story; an alternate version of Buffy herself. It was really cool to see the two of them have the tumultuous relationship they had over the years. Besides Glory, Faith was the hardest to deal with enemy-wise because underneath it all Buffy still felt a kinship to Faith regardless of where Faith stood on the moral-O-meter. They were opposite sides of the same coin and it was a great story overall.
