Has the coronavirus pandemic spelled the end of movie-going as we know it, or just the end of it, period?
And if so, what does cinema's dire straits and/or its possible demise mean for the prospects of live entertainment -- plays, musicals, concerts, etc.?

Well World War II didn't end cinema. We've gotten through plenty of other stuff before.
Stuff like concerts and sports events will be impacted for now, but I'm sure they'll happen again in the future with lots of precautions at first.

No, just the end of the way we’ve always known it.

No.
Liberals and their rioting might, though.

Nope.
I saw something the other day about Amazon creating theatres like the Apple Store, whatever that means. I think it entailed the likes of Amazon taking over vacant theatres & turning them into streaming houses. Probably touchless/contactless, you are charged via your device, & enjoy a streamed film in an actual theatre.

I doubt it. Nothing lasts forever not even the coronavirus.

I hope not. But the problem with cinema is, that unlike other events like concerts, theatre or sports it's not a live experience. So, unless they invent a new advanced form of showing movies like Cameron did with Avatar, movie theatres are going to struggle.

Yes, but just the act of sitting in a cinema and watching a movie was not a dangerous health hazard, especially in America.

The rebirth of Drive In movies. That's definitely one silver lining.

I doubt it. Nothing lasts forever not even the coronavirus. So wouldn't that in itself apply to cinema as well?

So, unless they invent a new advanced form of showing movies like Cameron did with Avatar, movie theatres are going to struggle. But it is live in that you are watching it not in isolation, but with a whole community of people in one small theater, or entire communities of people in each auditorium in a multiplex theater.

No, it's just a detour, not a dead end. Correct people will be back in big numbers is 2021, I predict.
