That's what the "International" in "International Space Station" was supposed to prevent. Whichever flag planters get there first will depend on internationally developed technologies. That calls into question any "kingdom" being recognized. It's like Antarctica in that the scientific value is more important than any political considerations and science is international in nature. Mathematics typically translate into any language flawlessly. What do I need to do, Arlon? What do I need to do to wake you up? Take a baseball bat to your face? I thought you didn't believe in violence.

No. It's about learning new things, developing better technology, expanding horizons, and investing in the future. Take a look at some of that new technology, the internet. What has that done for humanity? It put children in charge of the news. You just proved that by posting those idiotic videos. Never mind that too many adults already had the minds of children from watching too much television. The adults who grew up will not be funding your stupid plans for space and the adults who did not grow up don't have enough money, and that's even if you count Elon Musk.

I fully understand how many people in the wide world are rogues, charlatans, ne'er-do-wells, and adults with the minds of small children. I'm sure know that too. The part you don't seem to get is that if there are 10,000 of them and only 4 of us the baseball bat isn't going to do any good. In fact it might be the last thing we do. Burying our heads in the sand won't do much good either. They can still see us. Our only hope is to teach them to be responsible citizens. The error of their ways is becoming so obvious lately even they might figure it out. What other options are there?

Bad info is not the fault of the Internet. It's the fault of the people using the Internet.

So far the only result of the internet is that we now know how stupid most people are. Seriously, that is important to know. As an old person who lived a lot before there was an internet I can tell you life was easier then. Of course we had to remember phone numbers ourselves. Now that their phones do that for them people can't remember phone numbers if their phone battery dies. And there are no public phones. The people in the stores could tell you what they have in stock, and whether it was what you are asking about. The weather reports were just as wrong as they are now, but nobody believed in them as much as people today.

The weather reports were just as wrong as they are now, but nobody believed in them as much as people today. I'm old too. Life is easier now --- because of modern technology --- than it's ever been before. I can pay bills immediately from my phone. Before I had to write a check, go to the post office, and wait for it to clear. I can shop millions of options from my phone. Before I had to get in my car, and drive from store to store looking at what little options were available locally. I can talk with anybody around the world about any topic I want. Before I was limited to only those available locally, when they were available, and I had to be sensitive to their feelings, and potential consequences to me. I can bank by phone. And manage my money by phone 24 hours a day. Before I had to get dressed, get in my car, and see certain people when they were available. Before I had to plan my day around whatever I wanted to see on TV. Now everything is available 24/7/365, with pause, rewind and fast forward. Before new release movies were only available at movie theaters, at their show times. And when they left, I may never see them on TV. Now everything is available 24/7/365. Half the population works from home. Before everyone had to plan their day around getting ready for work, commuting to work, staying there all day, and commuting home. The ease, convenience, and efficiency is amazing compared to what was available in the past. The benefits of modern life go on and on. If you don't appreciate, you have a bad attitude.

Here's the thing about following the crowd. Smart people do not like it because they have a better understanding of it all and better ideas. The other end, I guess the "not-so-smart" to be kinder, like following the crowd because it has better ideas than they ever will. As I have been saying, the internet has put the children and the adults dependent as much as children in charge of everything. That is almost. You won't be getting the money you need for your foolishness, try as you might.

Your post doesn't make any sense. I also pay my bills by internet now. I don't need one of those gadgets that wets the back stamps on my desk anymore. Big improvement. You are correct about people being stupid. But they were always stupid. But before they had an excuse. People were isolated. But now ignorance can't hide. People have a hard time not being exposed to information, other ideas, and opinions. And if they want to defend their positions, their opponents are more informed.

What do I need to do, Arlon? What do I need to do to wake you up? Take a baseball bat to your face? < video Fake Space Station > I'm sure you know using a baseball bat is a bad idea anyway, but especially when preaching to the choir. This is how long hair behaves in free fall. That's why Yvette Mimieux's hair was permed for the movie "The Black Hole." Where the ISS videos are taped they just use a hell of a lot of hair spray to make the women's hair stand up, and it just looks phony, but most people are gullible and never question it.

The worst reason to go to Mars is that it will trigger the Martian Chronicles for real.
