I hope it's not cabin fever, but this film seems to be more enjoyable re-watching.
One year+ to re-watch. I'll consider a re of VS and league in the next week. Always Loved WW, Aqua and shazaam.

I was a big defender back in the day. I still stand by the belief that people seriously exaggerated how much of a brooding “jerk” the movie made Superman out to be, but I’m more willing to accept the other criticisms about the film.

MOS is "The Assassination of Superman by the Coward Zack Snyder." I don’t know why I’m bothering to ask, but what makes him a coward?

MOS is "The Assassination of Superman by the Coward Zack Snyder." I don’t know why I’m bothering to ask, but what makes him a coward? He didn't have the guts to be true to the character. He changed Superman to impress edgelords and douchebags who say "Derp! Superman ain't kewl!"

I found it less enjoyable on a rewatch. Zod is the only character with any personality. And the Batman Begins wannabe narrative make the pacing choppy.

I really like MOS it's probably my favourite DCEU movie so far, took me a while to get past my own idiotic "Dis not mah Superman" mentality, once I did though I really like the movie for what it is, only big issues I still have with it is I don't like the kiss between Lois and Superman amongst the rubble of Metropolis as I feel it's out of place and needless, and I dislike how Superman kills Zod and how he reacts to doing so, I think it should have been more a tough choice for Superman to make which then took a minute for him to fully register whilst having a more subdued reaction to it, with Lois comforting him allowing for him to sort of break down and be human in that moment, I also think Superman should have tried something other than the instant neck snap to stop Zod, like block his eyes with his forearm only for Zod to burn through him, making the choice to kill him Clark's last resort in that instant not his first thought.
Also the scene in the bar was kind of like meh because honestly what sawn off puissant even when drunk is going to think yeah I am going to fuck with this dude? a burly fucker sure I would buy but that little dipshit? nah, and Clark being petty like that was all kinds of stupid, melting one of his back tires into the ground would have been more of a subtle way to fuck with the guy, because honestly how the hell did Clark do all of that without anyone noticing? but this is more a minor gripe
Otherwise I really like the movie and those scenes don't really ruin the movie for me.

We saw it in theatre, maybe we were having a bad day. The supporting cast is outstanding.
I missed how good this is. Vs and Justice are not off the hook until next week...lol

I'm not the biggest Superman fan to begin with so I don't mind an alternate take. But I felt they supplanted his boyscout personality with...no personality. And your blocked eyes idea actually happened in the animated series with Darkseid. Would have probably been better. Yeah, I hate that bar scene. And the weird log truck display gave me serial killer vibes. Like if Ed Gein had superpowers, that's something he would do.

I’ve found with most of Snyder’s work that I dislike it on an initial viewing, but adjust and eventually enjoy it on subsequent viewings.
Man of Steel is no exception, but it is somewhat painful to watch when it could’ve easily been a very good movie instead of just a good one had Snyder shot it like he did Watchmen or BvS.
Instead we get the shaky, handheld, muted-color visual mimicry of other movies of the time. BvS and Watchmen aren’t exactly colorful spectacles either, but they at least dealt with dark blacks and bright whites with good framing.

I’ve always liked it, better than Snyder’s other efforts with the DCEU.

I like the film but it's still not the Superman movie I wanted.
I still have some issues with it. Namely letting Jonathan Kent dying, the way Zod is killed and the over the top destruction in the third act which makes the kiss between Lois and Clark to be completely out of place.
But it's still my favorite movie of the DCEU but I haven't seen Shazam and the Birds of Prey movie.

I don't like Man of Steel. It feels like a dumb movie that thinks it's smarter than it is. Superman talking to the priest about sacrificing himself with the stained glass window of Jesus in the background makes me cringe.
Every time I re-watch a clip from it, I'm distracted by how poor the storytelling is.
That said, I do like the casting and the musical score.

I think my favourite part is when the villains are sent away into safety while everyone else gets to die on Krypton.
