This question makes no sense really, considering that most of the best motion pictures were made when they still used film and not digital. It's like asking what is your favorite motion picture that came out after 2013, since that's when the bulk of motion pictures transitioned to digital over film. So basically the question is illogical and pointless. Because no ones favorite motion picture came out after 2013.

"You can narrow that list down to movies starring me. Well... Ricki and the Flash was 2015, but you should all check it out."

; what does film vs digital have to do with selecting ones favorite movie? For me that would be true. but... 11.6% (18/155) of my favorite movies have been released from 2014 to date (with an additional 12 more movies are just shy of favorite movie status. if you count these, that percentage shifts to 15.9%). but things top out at a 7.5-8/10 from 2014 to date for me as only seven movies managed to reach 7.5-8/10 status from 2014 to date.

Why not after 2013? That's silly.

I have been asked that many times and I have asked it.
It's a way to get to know someone a little better.
I'm not sure if it says anything about a person necessarily but films are always fun to talk about.

I'm not sure if it says anything about a person necessarily but films are always fun to talk about. Yes, but when they say 'movie' that means something that has a moving image, which is not shot on film. As we all know film is of course not a moving image.
Their question does not make sense, since that it only refers to motion pictures made after roughly the year 2000. So if someone prefers motion pictures shot on film, like i do, the question makes no sense.

Hopefully you're just being silly. If you're trying to be clever you're not doing a good job. In fact if you are proposing that movie must be applied only to the art form where an image, (i.e. a single visual perception, such as a photograph or other two-dimensional picture, that resembles a subject—usually a physical object—and thus provides a depiction of it,)is moving then wouldn't film fit that description more aptly than digital?
Here's a simple experiment. Ask your parents if they have a Polaroid camera or dig in the basement and find a non digital photograph from what may seem like ancient times to you. In other words a photograph not taken using a phone. Next take that photograph and toss it away from you like you might if dealing cards. Cards are another ancient item. They are used for gaming but I digress. That non digital photograph magically flying through the air without the aid of digital technology is by definition a MOVING PICTURE. Does that make throwing an old Polaroid you found in a box a movie? I would say no but if it were a movie it might be titled My Naked Ex Girlfriend & Her Hot Friend.
Also film images DO physically move through the projector but apparently we don't all know that. For more information on how filmed images and something called persistence of vision works to make the MOVIES we all love, visit your local library or consult me. Of course you could just lazily ask Siri or some kids on Instagram if you prefer. Of course we all know all the real movie experts are on TikTok these days. Assuming it hasn't been made irrelevant during the time it took me to compose this flippant post.
