Because yes. #mood #loud #Oasis p.s. Original > Remastered I remember when I first saw the premiere of that video back in summer of 1997, and it was quite a huge deal, not just because of the whole "brit-pop" scene that were still very much alive and kicking, but a video of almost 7-8 minutes getting played out without any editing or cuts, and the media was surely trying to hype up for yet another Blur vs. Oasis "battle", but somehow I guess it really was coming to an end, and I thought Blur released the better or more interesting album that year, while Oasis just, well, Be Here Now did never really had much of a chance to live up to all the gigantic expectations, that so many had going or so it seemed, but still it contained some great moments. Anyway, back to the thread, I fell completely for the scottish band that is The Blue Nile, and their first two albums A Walk Among The Rooftops (1984) and Hats (1989). There is something very sweet and haunting about their music and sound, and a really special kind of band, that along with Talk Talk, XTC and Prefab Sprout seemed to just hit right home with me, the very first moment I heard their music. I am not sure how many different music videoes there made of this beautiful song, but my favorite is this one, and I think it fits so well in with the music and lyrics. A tender, sweet and warm song/video that just makes me feel all cozy and warm inside, and I love the little romantic tale that is going on, and the kind facial expressions of vocalist Paul Buchanan. I remember that Keane did a pretty solid cover of this song, a few years back, but the original is just, well, something else. The Blue Nile - Downtown Lights (1989)

Speaking of great combination of music and video, I think Talk Talk and their 1986 hit Life's What You Make It is up there among my all-time favorites, and one that always makes me think of the early 90s british animated series The Animals of Farthing Wood, where a bunch of animals have to join forces with each other, in order to survive, "thanks" to human intervention, when their local forest is getting cut down and destroyed to make place for something new.
Anyway, what made the show so interesting and memorable, was that the top predators had to try and get along with their natural prey, and so on, but once in a while the nature's way of doing things, well, just so happened to play out the way it usually does, and it become quite a shock, to see so many main characters getting killed or injured through the series run, and not just by other animals, but through their unlucky encounters with humans or nature itself.
The music and video of Talk Talk is just a thing of sheer beauty, and I have always enjoyed and loved how much Talk Talk seemed to care for animals and nature, which not only though their videos, but also of course through the stunning artwork and design of the albumcovers done by James Marsh.
The huge sounds coming out of those guitar riffs, the thundering organ and of course Hollis powerful and haunting voice, and yet the main stars are really all these beautiful creatures, small or large, who happens to just have their own very "simple" story of just another dramatic and unpredictable tale of survival of the fittest, all taking place during night time in some local woods.
Talk Talk - Life's What You Make It (1986)

I love watching this video, and the music is catchy. I know it's a cover, but it's so well-done.
