So... Freedom Of Speech, including BOTH Good & BAD statements, isn't allowed in our society anymore?
We are only "allowed" to say Good things, now?

Who takes the time to look through old tweets?
Like is there some warehouse just filled with young journalists scrolling through thousands of tweets a day until they find one that’s able to ruin someone’s life?

James Gunn was rehired by Disney despite this:
"I like it when little boys touch me in my silly place. Shhh!”
“Watching Trapped in the Closet, R Kelly’s second best video after the one where he urinates on a child.”
etc..

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean you can’t be fired from your job for the words you say. When I worked in a grocery store it was an automatic termination if you said a swear word and a customer complained.
Do you guys think it would be acceptable if you walked up to the register and your cashier said “I date rape myself and masturbate” or “I let little boys touch me in my silly place”?
That shit would be ridiculous.

No but then that's not remotely the case here, similar thing to Gunn Sawyer said this stuff years ago and was hired after having made these public comments, and at a time when he wasn't anywhere near as well known so he had minimal reach so likely didn't take any of it serious, also was said during a different time and atmosphere than today.
He said this shit before he was hired if it matters that much to people who hire these people then fucking check their social media before you hire them, don't do this hollow bullshit of acting offended years later only AFTER someone else brings public attention to it, lots of regular jobs google you and check your social media these days before hiring you, what a fucking TV network or show doesn't? Pathetic fuckers.

I think it's more that it makes him look like a hypocrite after he was in those ads about tolerance. The difference between Gunn and Sawyer is that Gunn apologized for those tweets long before they came out and his "firing". So it wasn't his firing that made him apologize for them.

I mean yeah it sucks he’s getting fired for things he said in the past, I’m a huge fan of his on the show, but places are allowed to do that. Doesn’t mean we can’t say what we want just that there are unfortunate consequences.

Come to think of it, wasn't there an article/interview from 2017 in which James Gunn talked about his past Twitter history? Or did I misidentify that with something else?

The difference between Gunn and Sawyer is that Gunn apologized for those tweets long before they came out and his "firing". So it wasn't his firing that made him apologize for them. I don't know about Gunn didn't his tweets resurface twice, so the first time could have been when he apologised for them, but I am not sure about that.
Also Sawyer was apologising the moment these came to light, not only after getting canned, so if Gunn only apologised for his tweets after they initially came to light it's the same thing, except Sawyer got canned on the first instance not the second.
Also no way it's that, it's about saving face, as I said normal jobs check this shit no way a network or a show seen by millions doesn't bother checking the social media of the actors they plan on hiring, but they will pretend this is a shock because otherwise they get hit with the you knowingly hired a racist backlash, they hired him, they had to know this shit was in his past they just didn't give a fuck until someone else did and now they are playing shocked.
Truth is this coming to light could be used to send the right message of not accepting intolerance by making him and others confess to their past mistakes of their youth and how/why they now know it to be wrong and all that, but that only sends the right message, it doesn't cover the networks arse, hence they wont do it and will instead just shit can the guy and play innocent, but this stuff doesn't actually dissuade people from thinking in any way like this just makes them think shit better not get caught saying it, where as if you have someone who did say stupid shit in the past saying how and why it was wrong that can send the right message that those types of thoughts and comments are wrong.

Hiring or Firing people based on their Social Media accounts?
What if you don't have any?
So, you have to get one, and say all kinds of FAKE nice things on it... so that you will get the Job?
There is something very wrong with our mentality, when "TWITTER" become the core 'thing' that drives our society.

There is something very wrong with our mentality, when "TWITTER" become the core 'thing' that drives our society. And... What's next? Will they be reviewing our Amazon purchases? "Oh My God, You bought (Example: "Gone With The Wind" (1939) ) on Blu-Ray five years ago?" "FIRED!" Everyone is guilty of doing something "questionable" at some point in our past.... As kids and teens we make many stupid mistakes. Most of us now, are not the same people we were back then. It's what we are doing NOW, that should only matter. These witch hunts need to end.

I don't think it matters if you are one off employed. Gunn is the head of a series of movies just like Sawyer is one of the main actors of a series. It's also funny that WB hired Gunn after he was "fired" from doing Guardians, but is now firing Sawyer. Haven't seen much of Flash after Crisis (just started watching the back half on Netflix), but it looks like they were heading towards doing Identity Crisis. So he was about to be killed off anyway.

It is usually politically motivated beings. James Gunn was "outed" by a Trump fanboy james-gunn-apologizes-offensive-old-tweets-rape-pedophilia/Not sure who did this, but people need to just not have social media accounts. It just seems to get them in trouble.
