For the second and third sequels. *crosses fingers* Bill Skarsgard, Bill Skarsgard, Bill Skarsgard... The Direct is reporting that Reeves is planning for his Joker “to appear in the second and third movies as one of the films’ multiple villains.” The outlet goes on to say that the character will be referenced in the first installment, 2021’s The Batman, and that casting for the role has not yet started.www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/1137597-matt-reeves-rumored-introducing-new-joker-batman-trilogy

Bill Skarsgard would be such a predictable case of typecasting.

Bill Skarsgard would be such a predictable case of typecasting. Not always a bad thing. But to each his own.

I’d prefer that the Joker not be used at all, but I feel that if he’s going to be used, they should at least go with a choice that’s a little less predictable. If Skarsgard were to play the Joker, we’d already have a pretty good idea of what to expect.

It’ll be roughly a decade before the third movie comes out (assuming it does at all). I think that’s a decent break for the character.

I don't think they should use the Joker unless they find a way to work Phoenix's version into the movie (which seems highly unlikely).
Leto was a bust, but that was only four years ago; Phoenix was a hit, but that was less than a year ago. Another new Joker - even if the second and third movies don't come out for another 5+ years - would be too much.

Eh, I'd rather they didn't bother. Much as I love the character, he's been done very well on multiple occasions both on TV and in the movies. The focus should be on other members of Batman's rogues gallery at this point in time.

The focus should be on other members of Batman's rogues gallery at this point in time. A Batman world without Joker seems strange, but yeah, I think I'm good. Him, Bruce's parents getting shot, and a scheme to destroy Gotham can sit on the bench for a minute. Batman has the greatest rogues gallery, so I'm sure we can survive a Joker-less trilogy.
