Streisand effect, the more you forbid something, the more people are gonna wanna see it. I wouldn't be surpsied if Warner planned this, it would certainly be a clever move to boost sales. Disney does a similar thing with the Disney Vault.

I don't have a copy, but for viewers in the U K with access, I think it gets screened quite regularly on both Sky Movies Classics and Turner Classic Movies.

The Streisand effect is a social phenomenon that occurs when an attempt to hide, remove, or censor information has the unintended consequence of further publicizing that information, often via the Internet. It is named after American entertainer Barbra Streisand, whose attempt to suppress photographs of her residence in Malibu, California, inadvertently drew further attention to it in 2003.

It was silly though. They could have worked on some description/disclaimer for the film and put it in, but they made a song and dance production about taking it off in the meantime just to put it back a few hours later. I thought it was wasteful.

I'll err on the side of caution and say no, I was mistaken.
