The current system works because it means "We don't have to round up and add undeserving nominees nor round down and ignore deserving nominees." Also, they've been trying different methods to be more inclusive towards all kinds of human beings and to have a wider variety of genres, but it doesn't always work. That's because there are other factors that the Academy isn't responsible for: People not getting enough job opportunities in the film industry if they're not straight white men, campaigns that give movies exposure so that voters can be aware they exist, etc...

Yeah, not a fan. Clearly bullshit like Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close only got in because there HAD to be 10. The current mode was working fine.

Well intended, but it's not a sound idea. Given that they're gonna "wait" for two years before actually implementing the change I wonder if it'll even still be there.
