Anyone a fan of this series? Finished watching the two sequels, which are both adequate. The original is of course the best, but Jeffrey Combs is great in all of them.

I love the original, but can't necessarily say I love the series. The two sequels are, as you say, adequate. They're also very forgettable. I remember bits of the second movie and hardly anything about the third. I remember the second feeling a bit more in line with the tone of the original and the third not being as entertaining or nearly as funny.
But as you say, Jeffery Combs is always giving it his all.

Maybe because I was paying more attention to the third and that I'm more fresh of it in memory, but I actually think it's better than the second.

Loved the first movie, haven't seen it in a long time. Never saw the sequels.

The original is one the finest slices of splatter cinema I've ever beheld. A grisly, nightmarish, whimsical 80s classic. My second favourite splatter film after The Evil Dead.

I haven't seen the sequels (I really should though especially since Bride is on Shudder). But the original is, in my opinion, just an absolute horror classic. I like the characters and the actors do a really good job here. Herbert West is one of the best characters in horror if ya ask me. What Jeffery Combs brings to the character really is outstanding. His delivery, timing, little nuances... its all so perfect. Re-Animator is also genuinely funny without having the comedy too overblown and also moves at a breakneck pace. And the gore, I mean the freaking GORE in this is also so, so perfect.

Still haven't been able to track down a copy of the third one.
But I did like how Bride tried to include some of the elements from the original story.
