The Poseidon Adventure
Tv movie Revenge! 1971 (had to be the inspiration for Stephen King's Misery)

I can't stand her. Sorry. I was relieved when she disappeared in A Place in the Sun, Lolita, and The Poseidon Adventure.

With the exception of myself there's no love for Wichester '73 or Cleopatra Jones? I was very tempted to choose Winchester '73. Amazing to think she actually played the part of an attractive, desirable woman in that movie...lol.

I can't stand her. Sorry. I was relieved when she disappeared in A Place in the Sun, Lolita, and The Poseidon Adventure. I don't like her, either. She's waaaaay too shrill and always overacts. Actually, she can be fun in a movie, but I think in real life she would drive me nuts in about five minutes.

Those roles played to her "strengths" if you will.

Despite having the main female role you probably didn't realize it was Winters because it's a rare relatively subdued acting job by her. More Winters like was her opinion of the movie which she wasn't very fond of. Winters said: "Here you've got all these men... running around to get their hands on this goddamn rifle instead of going after a beautiful blonde like me. What does that tell you about the values of that picture? If I hadn't been in it, would anybody have noticed?" I guess you confirmed her suspicions.

I agree with you but apparently Shelley thought all the men should have been chasing her instead of the titular rifle because she was such a gorgeous woman.

I never thought Shelly Winters was pretty, let alone gorgeous. To me, she was always fat. Even when she was thin, she was still "fat". If you know what I mean.

If she only knew that later she'd be typecast as loud, repellant characters.

A Place in the Sun The Night of the Hunter A Patch of Blue Lolita The Poseidon AdventureWith the exception of myself there's no love for Wichester '73 or Cleopatra Jones? I saw Winchester '73 on last Thursday. She was good in it, but she did better performances elsewhere.
