So anyways, I loved seeing Seaver with the Red Sox in 1986. Watching a legend get traded to the Sox for the stretch drive seemed to legitimize that team for some reason.
And he pitched pretty damn good for them that summer. A shame that he didn't get the chance to pitch at Shea in a World Series again.

Note Seaver's back leg. I could probably name another pitcher who got the knee of his pants dirty just by pitching but the name isn't coming to me now. It was unique. His fastball wasn't Ryan's, Feller's or Dalkowski's but it moved right along

If you don't like Tom Seaver, you don't like baseball. The guy was the ultimate pro, nothing but class. 100% true. Seaver and 41 are a part of many of my personal passwords. One of the all time greats. Not a lot of people know before Rivera's vote total to the HOF, Seaver previously held the highest vote percentage, more than Aaron, Ruth, Mays and Gehrig.
