I've been wanting to try it, but they are huge and super-expensive because of it. I was told at Whole Foods they sometimes cut one up and sell containers, but have never seen one. Anyone try it?

I never have tried it, largely for the reasons that you mentioned. They're enormous, like a good sized watermelon, and I don't know what to expect. I first saw one, a couple of years ago at a Lucky Market (I think). My first reaction was "Wazzat??" I can't recall what the price was.
You're right that markets might increase sales, if they would offer samples of the flesh, either in small containers, or at a "tasting" stand, much like what Costco does.

No, I've always been curious but I wouldn't know how to fix it.
