That doesn't mean much of anything; I like some of the films that are already off, but I still think it would be fun to see what everyone else's choices. Years ago I read Technopoly by Neal Postman, which is about trying to quantify qualities and compare incommensurables. Since then I've NOT been able to give scores to films or do "best/worst/top 10". Some nights I watch "The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp", and some nights "Armageddon". I know which gets the greater respect, but I'm not going to rank them according to that scale. I can't rank them by the pleasure they give me. |

I don't get the hate for Torn Curtain. It's really not that bad and it's better than most movies made today. As I said, I agree. It's not a favorite of mine, but it's decent. Much better than most movies made today, absolutely. |

I'm somewhat reminded of the warning of tobacco, cigarettes etc "Smoking is bad for your health". Many people still smoke...I'm one of them and I'm 77. Maybe a warning should be given. "Survival Game is bad for your nerves". Those who are sqeamish will then disappear. The stalwart will motor on.  |
