Oh, Lord, I completely forgot to say the round was closed. Mea culpa.
We end with
17 votes Torn Curtain, 15 votes Mr. and Mrs. Smith, 13 votes Trouble with Harry, 9 votes Stage Fright, 8 votes Murder!, 6 votes Jamaica Inn, 4 votes Spellbound, 4 votes Young and Innocent, 3 votes The Lodger, 2 votes '34 MWKTM, 2 votes '56 MWKTM, 1 vote Frenzy, 1 vote Sabotage, 1 vote The Paradine Case.
Which takes Torn Curtain and Mr. and Mrs. Smith off our list, and puts Trouble with Harry in a precarious position for next round. Speaking of which...

No, I'm out. I don't want to vote against any more films.

No, I'm out. I don't want to vote against any more films. Well, it's just a game, to whittle it down to one. That doesn't mean much of anything; I like some of the films that are already off, but I still think it would be fun to see what everyone else's choices. You mean you like every single film on there equally?

You mean you like every single film on there equally? No, but that doesn't mean I can rank them. Years ago I read Technopoly by Neal Postman, which is about trying to quantify qualities and compare incommensurables. Since then I've NOT been able to give scores to films or do "best/worst/top 10". Some nights I watch "The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp", and some nights "Armageddon". I know which gets the greater respect, but I'm not going to rank them according to that scale. I can't rank them by the pleasure they give me.

That's just what the whole point is, trying to defend your favorites. That's what I like about these kinds of games. Thanks for explaining!

Torn Curtain is one of my favourite Hitchcocks...it's gone. Well, as I said, Torn Curtain is not a favorite of mine, but I think it does have some interesting elements that people often overlook. If I were voting, it certainly wouldn't be my first choice to go, I'll say that. Topaz, on the other hand, probably would have been...

I don't get the hate for Torn Curtain. It's really not that bad and it's better than most movies made today.

Thank you, shawshanked! And some interesting choices, too. (As for me, I'm not much of a fan of Spellbound or I Confess, though I know some people really like them, but I am a big fan of The Birds.) We're at... 12 votes Trouble with Harry, 9 votes Spellbound, 3 MWKTM '56, 3 votes Jamaica Inn, 2 votes I Confess, 2 votes Murder!, 2 votes Marnie, 2 votes Saboteur, 1 vote The Birds.

I'm somewhat reminded of the warning of tobacco, cigarettes etc "Smoking is bad for your health". Many people still smoke...I'm one of them and I'm 77. Maybe a warning should be given. "Survival Game is bad for your nerves". Those who are sqeamish will then disappear. The stalwart will motor on.
