Salzmank, that works for me- the choices are going to get awfully tough now, and I must justify my votes to myself as well? Hmmmmmm...frightening-LOL I am already going to revisit- ROBE/FRENZY/SHADOW OF A DOUBT So I am getting alot out of this game! thanks edit: preview of my current list breakdown: grouped/subject to changes The 39 Steps The Man Who Knew Too Much 1956 North by Northwest Vertigo Strangers on a Train Dial M for Murder Psycho The Wrong Man Foreign Correspondent ______________ Rear Window Lifeboat To Catch a Thief Shadow of a Doubt Notorious Rope The Birds Suspicion Rebecca The Lodger The Man Who Knew Too Much 1934 The Lady Vanishes Frenzy _______________________________good. Murder! (good early Hitchcock) 5.Stage Fright 4.The Paradine Case 3.Saboteur 2.Marnie 1.Young and Innocent watchoutforthatshanghicobracharliechan! Thanks for your nice comments, Morpheus, and I'm happy that you're getting something out of the game. I just never want anyone to think this silly game disparaged Hitchcock, as difficult as voting against some favorites will be. Indeed, I'm surprised that some pictures are already gone; they certainly wouldn't have been my choices. But as long as this game makes you think--and let you had fun--I believe it has done its job. I know I noted this on another thread earlier, but be prepared to receive a PM from me in the next few days asking for your three favorite Hitchcocks, even if they've already been voted off. I'm interested in seeing how it compares to our final picks. P.S. Are you interested in riddles at all, Morpheus? Because we're throwing riddles back and forth on the "Riddle Me This!" thread.

4 The Birds 4 The Paradine Case 4 Saboteur 3 Frenzy Did you mean to put it as 5-2? or 4-1? Because you and I talked about not going over 15 votes, right?

(4 x 3) + 3 = 15, or it was when I went to school. Has maths changed? :-)

Our losers are therefore The Paradine Case and, under the rule about ties, both The Birds and The Man Who Knew Too Much ('56).
I suppose The Birds is one of those love-it-or-hate-it movies; at least, those are the two reactions I've seen. (I'm in the "love it" camp myself, if anyone's interested.)

I also like the Birds, it really scared the bejesus out of me when I was a kid, there is quite a bit to appreciate in that film, I like the way that Hitchcock manages the tension throughout the film, the effects of some of the bird-shots, don't hold up to today's standards unfortunately but I have always liked Tippi Hedren's performance. I did watch it? about a year ago, and was mostly interested in the effects shots, a very good film that is competing with alot of great films, so I am O.K. with it going at this point. 5.Young and Innocent 4. Saboteur 3. Murder! 2. Lifeboat 1. The Wrong Man (The Lodger) have not seen so I will abstain from voting for it, at least 'To Catch A Thief' has survived that last round. I do expect it to go eventually but North by Northwest is a film that I worship, it is how I would direct a film! At the very top of my list- Riddles? I wouldn't be able to kick the person who posed one to me that kept me up all night, so who needs the frustration. Salzmank, I will be gunning for Vertigo soon.
