If it was established then players could run their own topics as with BD. One following on from another, with other threads in motion too. It could also be quickened up to retain interest, with specific rules to keep order. Just a thought.

Why not set two or three games (perhaps even more) in motion at the same time? It could be worked similarly to Baker's Dozen Sure, I could do that too. What would everyone like to see? I want a Lubitsch survivor game, but not everyone may like Lubitsch as much as I...

What's so special about Lubitsch? I'd never heard of it (him?).

What's so special about Lubitsch? I'd never heard of it (him?). What, never heard of Lubitsch?! He's my favorite director (along with the diametrically different Howard Hawks). Wikipedia page here. Website here. More comments here. Essay here. Billy Wilder was indebted to him for everything (including his interest in plotting, I've argued elsewhere). He had, if the story's true, a sign above his desk that said, "What would Lubitsch do?" Honestly, though, if enough people here don't know Lubitsch, maybe an Orson Welles survivor game would be better? No offense to the Great Man, but it would certainly be rather short...

I just looked him up. I see nothing special in his filmography. One or two movies I like, but one movie I could never forgive him for making was "The Merry Widow". He absolutely crucified Lehar's magnificent operetta. And I detest Orson Welles too. Ham actor!

He absolutely crucified Lehar's magnificent operetta. And I detest Orson Welles too. Ham actor! Well, I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree on Lubitsch and Welles, then. Lubitsch tended to be very unfaithful to his sources (another example: Design for Living). In most cases, though, I think the films were equally as good, only different. Trouble in Paradise is one of my favorite movies ever made, and The Shop Around the Corner comes very close. Oh, and Heaven Can Wait! How could I forget that? As for Welles... Welles is far from his own best actor (though I still think he can be good), but he inspired great performances from all around him. Joseph Cotton's performance in Kane comes to mind, but there are many more. Have you ever seen Andrew Sarris's The American Cinema? I agree with some parts, disagree with others, but on the whole find it the best analyses of many of these directors.

Haven't seen 'Trouble in Paradise', but 'The Shop Around the Corner' is one of the ones I liked. But his 'Merry Widow'...ugh!...I shudder just to think of it. I've seen a few Orson movies and listened to his radio performances. None of them changed my mind about his acting. Let's leave it at that. Btw - did you look at that BBC directive site I sent?

I love the Ealing comedies. Ah. Ashamed though I am to say it, I don't think I've seen any except for The Ladykillers. I'm definitely planning on seeing Kind Hearts and Coronets one of these days, though... By any chance, have you seen (or heard of) The Assassination Bureau, with Diana Rigg, Oliver Reed, and Telly Savalas? I just watched it the other night, and it felt like the whole picture was specifically tailored to my interests! I very much enjoyed it, as you can probably tell.

Okey-dokey, folks, as noted earlier, I was going to eliminate the top two. However, Under Capricorn and Family Plot are both tied for the number-two spot, so I'll make an executive decision and eliminate both of them, along with Topaz. Everyone OK with that? No major problem?

If not, that leaves us with...
The Lodger 1927 Murder! 1930 The Man Who Knew Too Much 1934 The 39 Steps 1935 Sabotage 1936 Young and Innocent 1937 The Lady Vanishes 1938 Jamaica Inn 1939 Rebecca 1940 Foreign Correspondent 1940 Mr. & Mrs. Smith 1941 Suspicion 1941 Saboteur 1942 Shadow of a Doubt 1943 Lifeboat 1944 Spellbound 1945 Notorious 1946 The Paradine Case 1947 Rope 1948 Stage Fright 1950 Strangers on a Train 1951 I Confess 1953 Dial M for Murder 1954 Rear Window 1954 To Catch a Thief 1955 The Trouble with Harry 1955 The Man Who Knew Too Much 1956 The Wrong Man 1956 Vertigo 1958 North by Northwest 1959 Psycho 1960 The Birds 1963 Marnie 1964 Torn Curtain 1966 Frenzy 1972
OK, now, also as noted above, we're changing our voting system to speed things up. You are allowed to choose up to 5 (FIVE) options and score them from 1-5--5 being the picture you most want to see off and 1 being a picture to which you're relatively indifferent one way or another, or any point in that range.
Got it? Good?
ROUND THREE HAS OFFICIALLY BEGUN!
Go out and vote!
