I recorded the song to a cassette from TV around the mid- to late-2000's. I wrote "Popcorn" on the cassette label, but I don't know if this is a band name, song or album title, or what. There's a possibility that "Popcorn" has nothing to do with the song, but I can't imagine why else I would have written it at the time. The band looked young, late-teens or early-20s. It was a music video that I found randomly while going through the music video section of my cable provider's "on demand" service. (My provider was Comcast, and I live in the state of Illinois.) The video didn't look high budget, but it didn't look like it was shot with someone's camcorder either. So, professionally shot, but limited budget. I've tried Shazamming it and Googling lyrics (I've included lyrics below), as well as searching for bands and songs called "Popcorn". I'll leave the Vocaroo and YouTube links here (the audio quality is bad, but it's all I've got):
vocaroo.com/ap5tyRXfHwv (new version after some tweaking. Still not great, and there's a problem with "noise" during the louder parts, but I feel the vocals are at least a little easier to hear)
Here are the lyrics, as best as I can make them out:
"I've always seen you from a better view
And I've always seen the angel inside of you[unintelligible] sorrow
Live today and die tomorrow
[Chorus:
You can't cry forever
No
You can't cry forever]
Knocking on an angel's door
It's me, the one you adore (that's right)
It's too late, [unintelligible] princess
[unintelligible]
[Chorus]
[Guitar solo]
[Chorus]"
List of places where I've posted:
Reddit subs --r/NameThatSong, r/IdentifyThisTrack, r/tipofmytongue, r/RBI, r/lostmedia, r/Lostwave, r/poppunkers, r/whitewhale, r/Rockford (because some suggested that it might be a local-ish band), r/Chicago (same reason as r/Rockford, but the post was auto-deleted from this sub)
Non-Reddit -- Yahoo Answers, the "Name That Tune" board of Music Banter, 4chan music board (post was archived, and I was told to "go to Reddit"), the music board of city-data.com, rateyourmusic.com
Excluded (things have been suggested but ruled out):
Any song by the bands F.Y.P., Popcaan, Neuntage, or Rosengarten
"Live Today" by Dawnstar, or "Popcorn" by Hot Butter
A song from the soundtrack of either the 1991 or 2007 films titled "Popcorn".
I contacted Music Choice (a channel that plays music videos, and was available through Comcast at the time I saw the video in question), but they don't have records going back that far.
