It doesn't need to be waterproof, but I want one I can put a sheet over, obviously. The thing that's happening is that my dog has been in a habit of pulling the sheets back so he can lay directly on the mattress itself. It's driving me nuts because my vacuum does NOT have one of those hand held devices so that I can vacuum the mattress. I have to clean it with tape. Not the same thing.
Would a dustbuster work? I can buy one of those.
In light of this, I'm looking for a thin mattress cover (not just a topper pad) that will go all the way down like a bottom sheet, and then I'll put a bottom sheet over that when I make the bed.
What I'm worried about is I've read a lot of them sound "crinkly" like a diaper, even the non-waterproof ones, and I really don't need that. I just want a simple, non-puffy, non-lumpy one.

That's what my concern is, that they'd be too plush. I'm not looking for plush as my mattress itself is wonderful and I'm not looking for a topper. I just want something to put on top of my mattress as a barrier, and I'll put my fitted sheet over that. The reason I mentioned "not waterproof" was because I'd assume most of those would rustle and have this crinkly diaper sound, having plastic or vinyl or rubber. I'm a sensitive sleeper, but I also need to have some barrier there since my dog likes to make a nest in the blankets.
