I recently had a lady move in across the hall from me. She was beautiful and good company. But she had this dog that was big. It jumped on everybody. And apparently it shed on all her furniture.
We both had efficiencies.
Many people are allergic to dog and/or cat hair.
And veterinarian bills, as well as pet food can be expensive.
I suggested she get her dog trained. She said she couldn't afford it.
I really liked her. But I didn't want to deal with her dog.
What do you think?

I think an annoying dog would be worth dealing with if you really liked her. It could be that maybe you have a lot of options, I don't know. But me personally? Yeah I'll take the dog in a package deal with love.

Unless it was genuinely dangerous, not really.

Yeah I'll take the dog in a package deal with love. It wasn't the only reason we never dated. But that dog was a big turn off. We were friends. And we spent a lot of time together.

I'd rather have a dog in my life than a woman. They're less trouble.

If you married her, then you'd have half ownership of the dog, yes? Then you could kill your half.

I personally would not let a pet be a deal braker unless the person was cruel to animals or was a crazy snake lady but in both cases it would be about the person not really the pets

She smoked, she refused to exercise, and she was living with her ex-boyfriend. But I didn't want to have to deal with her dog. If everything else was copacetic, we would have dated.

Now, she lived across the hall. If there was nothing else, she could have kept her dog in her apartment. But it had major abandonment issues. It had to be drugged everyday when she left. Or otherwise it would bark and tear her apartment to shreds.

Being a dog lover is important to me, so "must love dogs" would be a requirement. THAT would be my personal deal breaker. Dogs and any other animal, truthfully.

Do the dogs sleep with you? What about cats? How many dogs do you have? Yes, my dog sleeps on the bed when he chooses to, and while he's crate trained, I only put him in there when I must leave the house for an extended period of time. I leave the crate open for him with a thick blanket and water and he goes in whenever he wants to because he likes it in there. He's welcome to sleep wherever he wants.

My cat died a few years ago. I've had them since I was a little kid. My father was a big animal lover. I've often had cats, one or two at a time. My last cat was the sweetest ever, most affectionate and loving little goofball. Used to stick his head into the mouth of the dog to scratch his ears on the dog's teeth. Weirdo. He'd cuddle under the covers with me. It was very sad to lose him. Like I said, I really do love all animals very much. Sometimes I like them more than people.

So, if somebody you were interested in was a cat lover, that wouldn't be a deal breaker for you?
