Taking place a couple years before A New Hope (1977) or inbetween Empire (1980) and Jedi (1983), it would've / would shown the OT Star Wars in a very different light.
It would have shown a character going through the galaxy in much greater style and ease, and getting respect wherever he travels. Showing more upscale civilizations, kingdoms. He would always use the royal docking bays and entrances to the important buildings, castles, mansions.
Plus he would take care of any trouble or opposing forces with his lightsaber and using the force with great ease, and have dark, disturbing discussions with the Emperor.

A Vader movie would probably do well, but what we really need is a 10 year break from Star Wars.

Didn't they already do a Darth Vader video game with this plot line?

We already had an entire trilogy dedicated to showing how Anakin became Darth Vader, and he was probably the most talked about part of Rogue One. Does he really need an entire spin-off movie dedicated to him? Besides, considering how old James Earl Jones is, I’d imagine that they would need to get a different person to voice the character, and I don’t know how well that would go over.

I do agree that James Earl Jones didn't sound right in Rogue One, but Darth Vader IS Star Wars.

No. What is needed are shows/movies outside the OT/PT era. No more origin movies or side-stories.

I do agree that James Earl Jones didn't sound right in Rogue One, but Darth Vader IS Star Wars. He sounded wrong on Rebels and TROS as well. I just don't know why they don't digitally augment his voice to sound like Vader should. I mean, if technology exists to make it sound like Brittany Spears can actually sing, they should be able to make JEJ sound like classic Vader....

I'd take a Shadows of the Empire film, but there's always room for other stories. The opportunity to do that passed on with the 80's...which then wouldn't be possible because it wouldn't become a story until the 90's.

A Kathleen Kennedy produced Vader movie would look like THIS... I can hear the Disney Wars defenders already: "What are you complaining about? Darth Vader has always been this way! It makes sense for the character!"
