I was in Cincinnati today. I had driven through the city before, many years ago, but never had the opportunity to walk or even drive around the downtown area. I liked the riverside area, with the baseball and the football stadiums practically by the river, almost side by side. Nice. Made me think of Pittsburgh, which also has the two stadiums by the river - although in Pittsburgh's case the view from the stadiums must be better, because you can see the downtown skyline across the river.

Wait, no buildings on fire?
No small businesses being destroyed?
No old statues being torn down?
No one foaming at the mouth, yelling at you about whatever the dilemma is today?
Are you sure you were in an American city???

No, none of that! There were very few people downtown. The closest thing to protests I saw was in front of City Hall; the street was closed for traffic and there were all kinds of BLM-inspired drawings on the pavement, and some people just hanging around.

I actually walked past the Fountain Square location but since I hadn't had lunch yet I didn't go in, thinking I would do it on my way back to the car later - but then I took a different way and ended up not having any ice cream.

I like Cincy, cool little city. What brought you there, may I ask?
I also like Pittsburgh, a lot, and Iβve spent much more time there on account of one of my closest friends living there. Great downtown area, tons of parks, solid live music scene.

We're on to Cincinnati.
Always got Three Rivers and Riverfront confused. Cookie cutter stadiums on rivers.

It was just a stop between a job I did in Indiana on Friday and another one I am doing next week in West Virginia. Cincinnati just seemed the most interesting place to spend my Saturday that wasn't too far out of my way and that I had never been to before.
My sole experience of Pittsburgh was something similar - just a few hours on a Saturday, a few years ago. Enough to visit the museum and walk around the downtown area for a little bit.

Are you noticing any 'American' accents? Cinci should be noticeable. I have family outside Pittsburgh. They clearly sound American when they speak.

Nah, canβt say that I am able to notice any big difference in the accents in this area of the USA as compared to Ontario. I did say βzedβ the other day and everyone laughed, though.

They specialize in some very unique-tasting chili in Cincy. I had the chili spaghetti when I was there. Very unforgettable.
