The guy directed The Lost Boys, A Time to Kill, Phone Booth.....some great stuff, yet he's remembered most for some dopey Batman film. That's a shame.
RIP

A solid journeyman director responsible for many classics.I'd say a couple minor classics and that is me being generous.

Pretty much sums up about 95% of anyone who's ever directed films.

Whoa, no kidding? R.I.P. Hell, I liked some of the movies he made after Batman & Robin. I liked his Phantom of the Opera (bad makeup aside).

I wasn't asking or expecting you to agree with me.

Falling Down is a great movie and I love The Phantom of the Opera (I think the casting is fine and the singing great).
Also like: Batman Forever St. Elmo´s Fire The Client
RIP Schumacher.

This came out of nowhere and we just honored the 25th anniversary of Batman Forever. His Batman films weren't the best, but he was a director with a strong visual style and color palette. Rest in peace, Joel.

R.I.P. He knew how to make crowd pleasing movies, and take chances on some more oddball stuff.

Tigerland is the only one of his films which really stood out for me but Falling Down and The Client are solid too, and I have some affection for The Lost Boys. R.I.P.

In spite of my dislike of his Batman films, he did direct his fair share of quality movies - A Time to Kill (1996) being my personal favourite.
R.I.P.

I have liked most of this guys work and he was great at capturing and enscapulating an era. St. Elmo's Fire is a polished yet tacky treat to watch and The Lost Boys is a polished but cheesy treat to watch. Flatliners-90' is my favorite film of his and visually, it was like non-other that I had seen before and the film was well crafted in all respects. Still holds up today for me. I never liked Batman Forever, but enjoy Batman & Robin. How dare Batman be gay and have nipples..... Schumacher knew what would work and he knew how to make his films entertaining.
