In today's world, he is because his name gets lost in the shuffle of great actors, but back in the prime of his career, he was likely seen as a "pretty boy" actor that you normally see in romance films. He ultimately proved his acting chops in the films he did with Douglas Sirk and Giant, but he was rarely cast in high-profile serious films after that.

He was charming in comedy and his show "McMillan and Wife".
I thought he gave an excellent performance in the depressing thriller "Seconds". That movie was a total original. And I think Hudson should have gotten an Oscar nomination for it.
What a hunk he was in his prime! Woof!

A good actor, but not a great one. He got by on looks. I won't watch a movie just because he is in it, nor will I turn off a movie for the same reason.
Although I haven't seen it in years, I was impressed by his work in Seconds.
