Thriller, Fantasy, Musical, Art House Film, Horror Flick, Pagan Documentary ... Certainly an excellent and undisputed cult classic. What is your May Day... watch, joining in on any rituals? any other film suggestions

There are two "May Days". The pagan welcome of Spring and the socialist celebration of the working class. Both can crop up on other days instead and in various formats, depending on which nation.
So I guess any movies will fall into one or other of two categories.
I like both formats. They are equally Christian-unfriendly.

Has anyone caught The Wicker Tree, Man's "spiritual sequel"? I was only able to watch a few minutes of it, but I thought what I did see surprisingly interesting for what was probably a cash-in.

The there is the Shostakovich Symphony No.3 in Eb major, Op.20 "First of May" www.youtube.com/watch?v=QlNFP_LrmugThere are also a nice depictions of May Day in movies such as Maytime (1937)and Miss Julie (1951). In grade school, we made May baskets one year to leave on our girl friend's door knob, ring the doorbell, and then run away. I think there were made of construction paper with flowers in them.

Thanks Kijii ... that's quite a piece which builds to such a rousing finale. Shostakovich said that the work from 1930, praises May Day and the revolution. and that it... "expresses the spirit of peaceful reconstruction"
