I gotta say, I'm very excited about this. I hope it really is the new normal. Even after the virus is long gone let's keep this in place!
Going to a theater without worrying about someone sitting next to you! No jerks in front of you checking their phone! No stupid punk kids kicking your seat! Just empty seats in every direction forming a perfect buffer from everyone else in the theater!
This is going to be amazing. We shoulda done this decades ago!

I always hear people complaining about kids kicking the backs of seats in movie theaters (and planes) but I've not experienced it once.

Smartphone addicts and people with big heads that block the screen are my pet peeves when it comes to cinema. I can't see myself returning until at least Summer 2021, however. I'm just too nervous about picking up the virus.

Except this isn’t gonna be forever. This is only until there’s a vaccine. There’s not gonna be a new normal.

We go to weekend matinees which are cheaper and never crowded. Usually 10:00 or 10:30 AM showings, so don't have any issues.

People talking loudly near me is the number 1 reason I dislike going to the cinema in recent years. If this new normal reduces that, then all the better. I dont mind people sitting next to me as long as they are quiet.

There's no going back. It's not sustainable, though. Either the theaters will go broke and under; or to stay afloat, they'll have to charge an arm and a leg for both the film, and up their already outrageously high prices on concessions. A packed theater = profits.

a. There's no rush because barely anything's gonna be released for months. Theatres in Canada are planning weeks & weeks of Star Wars & Indiana Jones... sorry, I'm not watching those in a theatre & then have my family watch them from a hospital bed.
b. COVIDiots shunning masks because they don't give a fcuk about my life will be the new smartphones. 2 decades of $12 movies with shiny device lights because other ppl think spending $12 to text their friends in the dark... will be the new boomers. Worse - when masks do become mandatory in theatres, & they will, the COVIDiots will only double down on the shunning. What, theatre chains are gonna have their teen staff start bouncing ppl in the dark who remove their masks? They're gonna rely on whistleblowers?? lols I'm not paying $12+ to play civil cop with my health on the line... if I'm dropping dime on entertainment & escapism, I don't wanna feel like the ICUs are calling my name.
I will be vaccinated before I return to a movie theatre.

I never worry about that, as i also go to the theater at a time i know very few people will be there. I mean unless i go with somebody, which i rarely do as i prefer to go alone.

I hope they keep this as well. Though it would suck if you’re going with a group of people and you have to share a snack/drink.
