I know there are always omissions that irk people, while others hate all such institutions, but to me it's still a friendly and respectful honour being bestowed upon those being honoured by those that enjoy their work. It's also a fun promotional tool that can provoke decent musical conversation, debate and (re-)evaluation).

I would have thought that Neil was a 3 time inductee.....solo, Buffalo Springfield, and CSNY.
CSN is in, but no Y apparently. Go figure.

Perhaps he's a favourite to join Eric Clapton in future, though as a Canadian, he'd be another from outside the birth of rock 'n' roll. I do wonder if Wings might be inducted some day, which could make Paul McCartney on a par with Clapton.

Wings should be in. A lot of Neil Young fanatics are trying to get Crazy Horse in the Hall of Fame, which is richly deserved. If Neil Young and Crazy Horse get inducted, that would be another one for Neil.

Only the first studio album without and with Neil were HOF-worthy, but 4 Way Street could have put CSNY over the top CSN albums:Crosby, Stills & Nash (1969) CSN (1977) Daylight Again (1982) Live It Up (1990) After the Storm (1994) nothing much live to speak of. Singles: Marrakesh Express, Suite JBE, Southern Cross, and Just a Song Before I Go were the strong ones. CSNY:Déjà vu (1970) American Dream (1988) Looking Forward (1999) 4 Way Street (1971) CSNY 1974 (2014) Singles: Ohio, Teach Your Children, Woodstock, Our House, Almost Cut My Hair.

People complain about the people who've been inducted, but the multiple-entry people are almost all rock. But if Dave Matthews gets in solo, I will be pissed.

If they were going to induct CSN then they might as well have inducted CSNY which was better anyway. Maybe professional jealousy kept him out-- one or more of CSN bending the ear of Wenner? Everyone knows Neil was the best of all of them.

The Beatles seem to be the only band that’s in as well as each individual member as a solo artist on their own. I wonder if that would ever happen again. I’m struggling to think of a band that would come close to this. Some duo maybe? Like if Art Garfunkel ever gets in?

The Beatles got this because Lennon, McCartney and Harrison all had amazing solo careers. Can't say that about the Stones, LZ, Queen, etc.
Starr, not so much. Plenty of acts had bigger/better tunes than Mr. Starkey and aren't in. But, what the hell, if NWA and Grandmaster Flash are in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, there sure as hell is room for Ringo. Counting the days until Zamfir, the Master of the Pan Flute and Beethoven get inducted.

Yes, pretty special line-up the Beatles had. I can't think of any other band with 3 or 4 members where each member might reasonably wind up in The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a solo artist.

It is funny, as much acclaim as CSN/Y get, they really only had two great studio albums and one good live album. Not really a large batch of Hall of Fame material. Though I do think the 1977 CSN album was excellent, as well.
