1896 - 1906 - 1916 - 1926 - 1936 - 1946 - 1956 - 1966 - 1976 - 1986 - 1996 - 2006 2016 -
I posted a thread like this years ago on Film General, got a reasonable amount of replies, thought I'd try it again. It's been years since I posted on IMDb's Film General, as I spend most of my time (as Thor-Delta) on the TV boards and Music General.
Anyway, what is your favourite film for each of the above years? Yes, they had films in 1896.

1926 - The General 1936 - Modern Times 1946 - It's A Wonderful Life 1956 - The Searchers 1966 - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly 1976 - Taxi Driver 1986 - Big Trouble in Little China 1996 - Scream 2006 - The Prestige 2016 - La La Land
Can't claim myself as an expert on many of these years except the most recent one so obviously it's not the best list possible... yet.

@darkprofile I'll check out Démolition d'un mur. I love extremely old demolition footage, and I love 19th century actuality shorts, so this should be a winner for me.

@darkprofile I'll check out Démolition d'un mur. I love extremely old demolition footage, and I love 19th century actuality shorts, so this should be a winner for me. It depicts, for the first time, the magical, spiritual power of camera, provided you see it from the right perspective. Watch Now You Tell One as well. It's on youtube. The intertitles are in French, but the film is visual enough to be enjoyed.

"Sorry, I don't watch films released after 2008" Why is that?

@silentsiren totally agree. I find the modern films soulless.

1946 - The Harvey Girls 1956 - Giant 1966 - Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? 1976 - The Omen 1986 - Betty Blue 1996 - Fargo 2006 - This is England
Not the best list as I haven't seen many from 1946 - 1976. 2016 is missing because I've seen two films: 'The Girl on the Train' and 'Fantastic Beasts', they were OK but I'm sure there are much better films I've yet to see.
