PERDIDA5/10 You'd think that a prequel about how a cop began their career would analyze their evolution over time, but LA CORAZONADA (INTUITION) doesn't even try. For example, just as it happens in pretty much every entry of this genre (and it's therefore not a spoiler), there's a scene where Manuela "Pipa" Pelari (because it's sooooo easy to take a law enforcer with a nickname like that seriously!) has to shoot a criminal. Even though it's in self-defense and she was trained to do that, killing is a big deal for anyone. The movie never takes the time to explore how this affects her. This time around, she has to solve... a case. Just a case. Unlike PERDIDA (where she had to find out who murdered her best friend), there's no emotional weight to help the viewer tolerate the clichés. Also, since we're seeing her as a rookie, a lot of screen time is dedicated to other cops doing their part of the investigation, while the previous installment was told mostly from her perspective. Due to everything I've said so far, Luisana Lopilato is now given less material to work with. Her performance isn't bad; just not as good as before. 3/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies in my blog.
