Ayer is such a mixed bag. At face value, he seems pretty cool because he usually does these B-movie action-thrillers that you might've seen back in the 70s or 80s.
Then most of his stuff ends up being a missed opportunity. He has obvious potential, so I'm excited for his great movie to come. I think it'll only be a matter of time.

Zahler is a realized variation of what Ayer wants to be.

Zahler is a realized variation of what Ayer wants to be. Cheers to that. Zahler is still seen as an exploitative edge-lord by many in the industry. He's so much more than that. One of my favorite directors working right now.
