I’ve seen a lot of spoofs of IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE. Sorry to sound like the publicist of a fast food chain but, in a certain way, they’re better than the real thing. You see, they always start with GEORGE BAILEY (or the character who represents it) feeling bad about his life. The introduction should've lasted 10 or 15 minutes, not 90. By the time CLARENCE the angel appears to help GEORGE, it feels like a whole other movie... one that’s much more interesting than what has been shown before... and one that doesn't last long. That being said, it's one of those movies that get to you emotionally in a bunch of scenes, including an ending that makes you cry. 7/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies (including the remake) in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian).

A common criticism for the film, which I disagree with. I feel all that time given to establishing who George is and his relationship with the town and it's members really elevate that final scene to being the amazing emotional crescendo that it is.

I love everything about this film, and James Stewart is the glue that holds it all together. An amazing performance, and he should've won an Oscar for it.

Not a fan of Capra films, and this one in particular.

Not a fan of Capra films, and this one in particular. I'm not surprised. You spend all your time posting here, how can you possibly find a moment to watch a Capra film? Or ANY film, for that matter?

Having heard so much about it, I was expecting to see a well-made movie that will also be among my favorites ( one that I would like to watch again and again, once in a while).
I am afraid one viewing was enough for me -- it did not appeal to me as I expected it.

The first time I saw it was when I was a kid then later as a teen. I watched it again a few times as an adult hoping it would grow on me. It never did.

I'd like to second Spiderwort's comments. You summed up the film's essence beautifully, Seto
