AN AFFAIR TO REMEMBER is longer than LOVE AFFAIR and it has worse pacing. It has the same problems with the dialogue and musical numbers, but the leads' performances and chemistry are a lot better. 3/10 ------------------------------------- You can read comments of other movies (including the rest of the franchise) in my blog (in English, in Spanish or in Italian).

3/10? I guess this film just hasn't aged that well over the years.
Houseboat, made just a year later, is a much more fun and light-hearted romantic comedy. I think those type of roles suited Cary Grant better.

Then why even talk about the film if you don't like it? i happen to be a fan of both versions of the film, but I would have preferred if Cary Grant had made the version with Irene Dunne. The 1957 version is lovely to look and delightful to listen to, as the score is excellent. The films are made to appeal to the romantic fantasies of those who believe that love conquers all. It really took "Sleepless is Searrle" to make many seek it out but it has been on my favorite list for 50 years. It may not be a great film, but it is entertaining.

Then why even talk about the film if you don't like it? Why wouldn't I talk about a film? That's what these forums are about: Expressing opinions (positive or negative).
