Was watching Fatman on Batman and Marc brought it up. Apparently the first cut had a deeper dive in the psychological damage Bruce's parents dying did, the studio rejected it. After the problems they had with selling toys and tie-ins with Returns they wanted to nix anything remotely "dark."
Marc urged everyone to tweet at WB with #release20,000cut. It's a play on the fact Joel Schumacher admitted to having 20,000 sexual partners in his life.

I can remember as a little kid having a sticker album and one sticker had something written in blood on the inside of Arkham Asylum cell.
I don't know if that was a deleted scene from the movie.

I can remember as a little kid having a sticker album and one sticker had something written in blood on the inside of Arkham Asylum cell. I don't know if that was a deleted scene from the movie. I know it happens quite a lot, but I'm sure I saw more footage in some of the trailers than what was in the movie. With it being an older movie there wouldn't be much in the way of cost for them to release a cut of the longer movie. They would have to do color correction, pay for some more score to be created/pay someone to loop in other score, and some other tech stuff. It's not like they would have to do any cgi or anything. You think there would be a market for it? Maybe not a huge market, but I think some people would pay...

I would have that reaction to B&R, but I kinda liked Forever. It had it's cheese, but I think B&R retroactively made Forever worse in peoples minds...

I actually found it, not just the image but the actual deleted scene that the image was from.

I actually found it, not just the image but the actual deleted scene that the image was from. I wouldn't buy a physical copy of a 160+ cut of the movie, but I would probably rent it. I don't expect to see some dark, introspective, deep take on Batman Forever, but it would be interesting one off watch I think. A curiosity. A few years back I went back and watched the 4 movies. Lots of things jumped out. I was amazed at how even the roots of the campiness of B&R was in 89 and Returns. The juxtaposition of how "dark" I thought 89 and Returns was as a kid vs how I view them as an adult is pretty jarring. Batman was never really the main focus until maybe B&R and even then only because how crappy the villains. How crappy Batman was as a crime fighter/hero in 89 and Returns. Batman doesn't even show up in Returns until like 30min in. Val Kilmer's Bruce was actually quite solid. How sex crazed Penguin seemed to be.

I've seen a few of the deleted scenes online. The one featuring the giant bat actually improves the film slightly and darkens the tone. An extended cut wouldn't be a bad idea. Not that I'd be in any rush to go out and purchase it.

I think people would appreciate it a lot more if they kept those scenes. That is if they cut all the goofy shit out in the process, that way it wouldn’t be that long.

On the subject of Batman Returns, I believe it’s been estimated that Selina Kyle actually had a minute or so more screen time than Bruce Wayne.

I'd certainly be interested in seeing an extended cut of Forever. Over the years I've seen and read things that suggest that some of the more interesting ideas in the film ended up on the cutting room floor in favour of superfluous action scenes of the Batmobile driving up walls. I've also come to feel that Kilmer's Batman was quite underrated and some additional footage could help cast his performance in a new light.
