It seems to be about a 50/50 split between instances where I can preview my posts, and where the "preview" option is inoperable, and I have to go directly to "create post."
This morning, I created a post on "Food & Drink." I was unable to preview it. Later, I responded to threads that were already in progress. In one case, I could preview ... but, not in the other.
I do prefer being able to use the "preview" feature, as it confirms emphases such at Italics, bold print, and underlining. It also reduces the chances of having to post an edit.
Is this just the way the system is designed? Or, am I overlooking something?
Thank you.
PS: Case in point: On this post I am unable to preview, and clicking BBCode, renders no results. I can only "Create Thread."

I can only "Create Thread." I'm not entirely sure what you mean here. Aside from the Quick Post window, where it is utilized to get an idea of how your post is going to look, Preview is just shorthand for a type of editor; the default. Basically, it just adds in images, font changes, formatting, etc., on the fly so you can see what your end post is going to look like. The alternative is BBCode which shows any formatting as tags. That is, instead of seeing italicized, you'd see [i ]italicized[/i ] which can be useful in some cases. In what instances precisely is it not showing up?

Thanks Bartlesby (I love your avatars).
See the PS, to my post. Having completed my post, I was given 3 options at the bottom of the page;
- "Preview" did not bring up my post, for review as to how it would look, in format, on the page. There was no response to "Preview."
- "BBCode," likewise resulted in nothing on the screen.
- "Create Post," was my only option. As always, it successfully posted my inquiry.
ON THIS RESPONSE TO YOU, I have the following 2 options, at the bottom of the page;
- "Post Quick Reply," which has always posts my comments.
- "Preview," which allows me to see my comments in page format.
- There is no mention of a "BBCode." (Which, I said, brings up nothing when it's offered, and I click on it.)
I hope that makes it a bit clearer.
Another PS: I was able to preview this response to you.
Thanks.

Well, you actually have two options to respond aside from Quick Post. If you click on "Quote" next to somebody's post-- it will be on the right hand side across from their avatar-- that will bring up the Preview editor as well as quote them. If you don't want to quote anybody in specific but still want the Preview editor, look down to where Quick Post is. On the right hand side, there will also be a button that is titled "Reply". Click that, and it will also open a Preview editor. Hope this helps.

Ah. I think I see what you mean. Clicking "reply" would, also, reduce the clutter that comes with multiple "Quotes," I would guess.
But, why does creating a post, deny the poster the chance to preview ... as it has, twice, for me today.
AND, what does BBCode mean? I've never had any response to clicking on that.
Thanks for your patience.

Thanks for your patience. Creating a post doesn't deny you the opportunity to preview. If you click Create Post, you are confirming the post that you have already written in the Preview editor. BBCode is just to view the raw formatting. If you were to quote me and click BBCode, for example, instead of seeing a box with my quote and my avatar, you would see the nuts and bolts of what makes it display like that instead, so to speak. This can be helpful if you want more control over how something looks. I'd say that's a little more advanced, though, so you most likely won't need to use it any time soon. How are you replying to posts generally? Aside from Quick Post, all of them will be created in the Preview editor.

True, there is always a way to preview. It's just that one option gives you a chance to see the emphases of Italics, etc., on the page.
Thanks for your help. I appreciate it.
I've been a member for a long time, so the system has served me well. I was just curious about the differences.
