We all have them and have done a thread like this now and then. What are some unpopular/controversial movie opinions that you have? They can be for certain actors, actresses, movies, franchises, directors, etc.

The Exorcist and A Clockwork Orange are two of the most overrated movies I’ve ever seen.

I'd rather watch an Ed Wood film that a Christopher Nolan film Comic book movies are formula crap The term "coming of age movie" makes me ill Bogart's performance in Casablanca wouldn't make my top 10 Bogie roles No Best Picture nominated film was "bad"
Movies with an overabundance of CGI should have to be nominated under the "Best Animated film" tag

House of Wax (2005) is a really, really good horror movie.
Evil Dead (2013) is a masterpiece.
I like the Twilight series.

The Wicker Man (2006) is intentionally funny.
Darkest Hour isn't even one of Gary Oldman's 20 best performances.

I'd rather have multiple root canals than sit through the likes of superhero films, Twilight, Fifty Shades of Crap, or right around 97.8% of what's currently popular at the cineplex.
Francis Ford Coppola's Dracula may well qualify for the most underwhelming POS I've ever paid good money to see on a big screen.

I liked Kristen Stewart ever since she was a kid in Panic Room. Later, I heard her do an interview where every other word she said was the word “like”. I hate that. She was well into her 20s and should have known better. I saw her in Underwater recently and realized that she’s a really good actress. She was shown terrified out of her wits, smart, brave and effective at getting things done - all roled up into one person. So I like her again.

Coincidentally I thought my opinion that she is a mediocre (sometimes terrible) actress was in the minority and was actually going to use it as one of my unpopular opinions. That isn't to say I don't think she has given any good performances. I think she is very good in Panic Room and Camp-X-Ray. At best she is the most inconsistent actress in terms of acting that I have ever seen.

The Exorcist is more unsettling and creepy than scary. There are very few horror movies I think are legitimately scary.

The Shining is my favorite horror movie, but I don't think it's that scary. It's creepy, unsettling, and has a great atmosphere though, which is why it's still effective as a horror movie.

As far as Pixar is concerned, Toy Story 4 and Ratatouille are pretty overrated. Brave is criminally underrated.

Obviously. Freddy Kruger is scary in the first 2 A Nightmare on Elm Street movies and after that he is just funny. I don't mind though, because he is still very entertaining. I do agree that the Friday the 13th series and most slasher movies are about as scary as a basket of kittens though. I don't think most of them are even suppose to be scary. Most are bottom of the barrel trash and intentionally so. They were especially forced out in the early 1980's after the success of Halloween and Friday the 13th for nothing more than a quick buck.

Nick Adams was one of the greatest actors of his generation
Sophie Loren is ugly
Lucy Lawless could have been a big action movie star
From the mid 70s onward, the main stars of movies have been spfx technicians.

I remember watching "Dr Strangelove" a while ago and not being particuarlly engaged, though that was way back in high school before I really knew much about the Cold War and the Soviet Union. Maybe now that I'm more informed on the topic it might be more entertaining.
