Most movies based on history are bad, because they are generally filled with historical inaccuracies. A movie based on real history should at least be 90% accurate. Films based on actual events or existing IPs don't need to be anywhere near historically accurate or faithful to the source material Which is the unpopular/controversial opinion? I have no idea

Zack Snyder's DC movies are far superior to any Marvel movies.

I much prefer Superman Returns (2006) to Man of Steel (2013).

Kubrick and Scorsese are both overrated. After the Kill Bill movies Tarantino became a caricature of himself, but did right the ship somewhat with OUATIH. Nolan makes pretentious crap. Cameron hasn't made a truly good movie since T2.

Scary is in the eye of the beholder. I thought The Exorcist was scary. I thought the Shining was scary. I thing stuff like Friday the 13th and Freddy Kruger is about as scary as a basket of newborn kittens
Freddy Kruger is scary in the first 2 A Nightmare on Elm Street movies and after that he is just funny. I don't mind though, because he is still very entertaining.
Actually I find the funny Freddy more scary. Taking joy and finding humor in killing a young person is scarier to me. Except in Freddys Dead. That just got way too silly.

2001: A Space Odyssey is a cure for insomnia. I never liked it. I just found it beyond dull.

I understand that POV and that does make characters more scary when done well, but in the case of the sequels it doesn't work for me. That is why I don't care much for any of the sequels. Freddy's Revenge finds a balance between creepy and goody in tone, but the story is boring. I like Dream Warriors and Dream Master to an extent, but they aren't scary at all imo.

- Dramas can be great, but popcorn flicks are much more rewatchable.
- Spirited Away (2001) is a confusing mess of a movie. I don't get it.
- The Exorcist is not that scary (this has been mentioned previously). Alien is far scarier.
- The Evil Dead (1981) is superior to Evil Dead II (1987).
- The majority of comedy movies are bland and forgettable. It is likely the single hardest genre to get right.
- A View To A Kill (1985) is a pretty decent, if flawed, James Bond movie. By contrast, the Daniel Craig movies are Bond in name only.

I much prefer Superman Returns (2006) to Man of Steel (2013). That isn't unpopular as audience and critics ratings are both in favour for Superman Returns.

There is no movie so bad that it cannot be made worse by adding Mickey Rooney to the cast. Mickey Rooney is straight up creepy.

The only good Jason Vorhees film is Jason X The Lost Boys were laughable and un-threatening even way back in the 80s There are more unintentional laughs in the final act of Revenge Of The Sith than there are intentional ones in the whole of the prequel trilogy Jon Carter and Lone Ranger are underrated pieces of "blockbuster" entertainment. John Travoltas's performance in Saturday Night fever is one of the best of the 70s The MCU was a high risk, and ultimately an impressive endeavour Braveheart is one of the worst BP winners The best films of the 40s were made by Pressburger/Powell Ballad Of Cable Hogue is one of Pekinpah's best films The Terminal and Always ae better Spielberg films than Temple Of Doom Totally agree about John Travolta's high energy performance in SNF. He should have won the Oscar that year.

Tarantino hasn't forgotten how to be a good director, but he has forgotten how to be a good storyteller.

I like the 2 Wayne's World (1992 / 1993) movies but I don't find all the expressions used in the movies, "I'm gonna hurl" , "Shwing" , "We're not worthy" , "Not" etc .. all that funny.
