Koosman was a helleva player. That's one thing that makes the card so valuable. Most rookie cards from the 60's have a star and a scrub. Rod Carew/Hank Allen. Johnny Bench/Ron Tompkins. Bill Deheny/Tom Seaver. The 1968 set isn't very well liked and Ryan/Koosman isn't a high number. Some of the high numbers in the 60's are ridiculous. Bart Shirley/Grant Jackson 1966 starts at $350. For two scrubs
Topps was way ahead of the game with the short prints in the last series in all those old cards. I'm debating about going back and putting together a mint 71 set, which is super hard to do, can't do it by mail because they lie about the condition of those black boarders. But possibly a 70 or 72 would be good to do by mail (since there are no card shows to go to right now)

I've been going for the Topps Heritage. The 2020 set mirrors the 1971.
I can't justify spending hundreds of dollars to complete my 1965, 1966 and 1967's. These are fun but Topps fucks with collectors. All the stars are single prints, so more expensive. They have the minor league sets for each year. My wife has allowed me this and its remarkable. A huge bone of contention is the mammoth boxes of late 80's cards that I have in the attic. Worthless but I don;t have the heart to throw them away or have a bonfire.

I've had good luck with them, both price and condition. bought a few 1977's to complete my set.

I actually saw taht at Target yesterday and thought about buying a pack but it was 5 bucks and it will end up being a bunch of cards that aren't worth a quarter. But the 71 set is my favorite and one reason is becasue it's so hard to find mint cards because of those black boarders. I have about a hundred mint, they're all ones I got in person and it took a couple years just to get those. I keep saying I'm goign to go back and finish it but it's a hard set to do.

I'm looking at it right now. How honest are they? Because I've found that not one person who claimed to have a "mint" 1971 topps that I bought on line was actually mint. So I stopped getting them online. Other sets I don't think are hard to find online but it's the 71 that people lie about the condition. I have about 80% of a 77 set, i think it would be an easy one for me to finish up.

Yeah, it was probably the early 2000s when I stopped buying packs because of the vicious cycle. The packs go for 3-5 bucks. The cards inside aren't worth a quarter. You might luck out and get an insert worth a couple bucks but you end up payign way more and then have a ton of cards you have to find room for, then later when you're trying to dump them, no one wants them because they're worthless. Years, later the same cycle is still going on with new people buying cards. i've got so many cards taking up space and it's impossible to get rid of. That's why everytime I walk by those packs and think about getting one or two, then i think "wehre I am going to keep what will end up being worthless cards?" So I don't waste the money. But yeah, I get the fun of opening a pack of cards. That's something that never goes away.

One of my favourite NHL players - Mike Modano.
Played for the Minnesota North Stars/Dallas Stars.
Played his last season with the Detroit Red Wings. Don't know if it was so he could be closer to home? He is from Michigan.
After that season, he signed a 1 day contract with the Stars - just so he could officially retire as a Dallas Star.

A few others that I thought of:
Since 2007-08, Patrick Kane has played for the Chicago Blackhawks. He did play over in Switzerland for a few games in 2012-13 while the NHL was locked out.
Same for Jonathan Toews, but he has played exclusively for the Blackhawks.
Since 2008-09, Drew Doughty has played exclusively for the Los Angeles Kings.
I was fortunate enough to see Doughty play quite a few times in junior as he played for the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League. The Storm are a rival of the London Knights - the team to which I have a season ticket.
And, I was fortunate enough to see Patrick Kane play for a season for the London Knights.
