AT least Dlr doesn't take himself too seriously, at the very least you can get a laugh over some of his music.
If not more. Hagar on the other hand, mindless music and he covered janis joplin on one album(another problem, that is!). Imo. So therefore
Dave i think. Even though after the first two albums his solo career sucks.

As far as solo careers go, it's easily Sammy Hagar.
As far as which Van Halen was better, it's easily the one with Diamond Dave in it.

That first DLR album, the one with Yankee Rose on it, was great. Second one was not bad. Anything after that was whatever. But that band he put together was an all-star team - Steve Vai, Billy Sheehan, and Greg Bissonette. Pound for pound they were nearly as good as Van Halen.
As for Sammy, while he has some songs here and there that I like, I have to cast my vote for Dave. I always looked at Sammy’s solo career as kind of generic.
