Sure why not. The New Odd Couple was a ratings hit, was it not?

unnecessary and lazy , could just do a similar concept inspired by the wonder years, without being a reboot
still waiting for an ALF reboot

It'll last one season and get cancelled.

Many TV/movie remakes that change the characters' races, genders, etc... are bad because the changes don't really add anything to the table. Taking a show that was already a period piece and turning the characters black in order to give it a different historical context? Paying homage to the original series while still creating its own identity? Sounds good to me.

Just another addition to the line of unoriginal stories in our vapid "woke" era.

Sounds like typical lazy network rep idea. "Let's remake a hit comedy from two decades ago, only this time it will have an all-black cast which will make the network appear relevant and 'woke' to younger viewers who don't recall the original show anyway!"
>sigh<...it's beyond me why anyone expects anything original or intelligent from broadcast television any more.
I'm breathlessly awaiting the premiere of the all-black That 70's Show reboot any day now.

Where he'll be made with CGI? Heck no. They'll hire an actual alien from Area 51.

Everyone knows a black kids biggest problem in the 60s was a mean older brother and a teacher that hated when you ripped paper out of your notebook.

They made that version in the 70s, it was called What's Happening and it was pretty good. I watched a few episodes awhile back including the one with Janet Jackson, on Comet I think.
