I was raised with mayo and never had miracle whip.
Seems like most people use one or the other.
What's your favorite?

Mayonnaise ... Best Foods brand.
I, too, was raised on Mayo, but I've had Miracle Whip at other people's houses. As I recall, it has a sweetness to it, that's unappealing. It ruins a tuna sandwich.

Me too divtal! As a young adult I bought miracle whip by mistake. I ended up throwing it out. There's something about it I don't like

I like whip, no wrong answers. Mayo just does not work for me, understanding the popularity. Not my combo of flavor. Each palate is unique, I think.

Raised on The Tangy Zip of Miracle Whip. Dislike mayo for home use but, if it's in something someone else made will eat it. My sister refers Mayo .. possibly because MOM preferred Miracle Whip

Dear oh dear, at first (on the other Miracle Whip thread as well) I thought Miracle Whip was like this stuff, but I see now it's quite savoury and not at all sugary sweet like this awful product, the bane of my dessert childhood.

I like mayonnaise on sandwiches. Miracle whip makes a good base dressing for potato salad. Add a little mustard, dill pickle juice, celery, hard cooked eggs and onion -wallah great potato salad. We also use spin blend when I was a kid. It was a miracle whip type dressing made by Hellman's.

I actually think that looks pretty good. I would think it would be like instant pudding and a raspberry flavor.

Like Catman, I was raised on Miracle Whip and so I prefer it over mayonnaise. It's got a little more zip and, yes, it is a bit on the sweet side.
I don't mind mayonnaise in certain things, though I find it to be a bit bland. Mayo is basically just eggs and oil, I believe.

I do buy Heinz salad cream, which I think would be comparable to Miracle Whip when I compare ingredients. More zesty!Β I remember, Toasty, you telling me that you made your own mayonnaise. I think that's neat when people do that, also canning pickles and jams and jellies. Aside from the pleasure one would get from doing it themselves, I imagine it yields a superior flavor. I like the idea of adding some citrus, too. It would cut some of the heaviness of the oil and egg while adding some nice flavor. For mayonnaise I think a lemon citrus would be quite nice.
