I love it - I guess I first saw it at the right time but for me it's top of the high school pile with Heaven Help Us, Dazed & Confused and Election. Very witty, thoroughly winning with splendid characters. I actually think it improves on TTOTS (which I think is one of Shakespeare's weakest plays). |

Technically well thought out and smart, but I've always found it a bit boring. I love it - I guess I first saw it at the right time but for me it's top of the high school pile with Heaven Help Us, Dazed & Confused and Election. Very witty, thoroughly winning with splendid characters. I actually think it improves on TTOTS (which I think is one of Shakespeare's weakest plays). It is one of those movies where I don't exactly know why it doesn't work for me. I suppose it comes down to me finding it somewhat of an irritating movie in that in it's trying to be clever it feels up it's own ass. I don't think the characters are all that likable. Heath Ledger is the only character that doesn't get on my nerves and Allison Janney is hilarious, but she isn't in the movie very much. |
