<- Hasselback potato gratin I have no idea what that means, but gosh, doesn't that really look exceptionally delicious and out of this world? Gruyere and Parm and heavy cream. Yep, that sounds about right.

^ Nice pic. I am small roasted Parisienne myself, that looks delicious!
Edit: I get the vegan thing. Those fries cooked by McD's in beef fat.... Best ever, a childhood memory.

I was raised on potatoes by my Lithuanian-American mother, I love potatoes. I don't make them too often, it seems like potatoes are not as good as they used to be. Half the time the potatoes I buy end up being mealy. My favorite potato is the Yukon Gold.

I love potatoes, too. I've never made/eaten Hasslebacks, but I think of it occasionally. Now, I have to put it on the "do it!" list. It doesn't look difficult, and you can use any kind of flavoring with the butter ... or, I guess something else, if you don't care for butter. I had no idea why they were called that. It turns out that they originated in a restaurant in Stockholm that's called "Hasslebacken." Below is Laura Vitale's basic technique on the "How To." She uses butter infused with rosemary and garlic. I really like her YouTube channel. For those who've never seen her, you might want to brace yourself for her opening "Hi, Guys!" It's a little piercing. However, she's well organized, and her instructions are always easy to follow. www.youtube.com/watch?v=EnIg7D9Vnfs

Thanks for the concern. I hope your daughter is doing ok.

Plain boiled Fried Au gratin Scalloped French fries In soups One of God's gifts! Where are you from? French fries, yes. Especially when they just come out of the fryer. And the occasional scalloped and leek and potato soup. Otherwise, meh. Not much of a fan of pasta either. Or rice. Have really cut down my consumption of most of these carbs. I'm from Canada, where we created the yukon gold.
